FAQs

AILET — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about All India Law Entrance Test — eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus, cut-offs and admissions.

What is AILET?+
AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) is conducted by National Law University, Delhi for admission to its BA LLB (Hons.), LLM and PhD programs. NLU Delhi does not participate in CLAT and admits students only through AILET.
What is the eligibility for AILET?+
Class 12 passed or appearing from a recognised board with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/PwD). There is no upper age limit.
What is the AILET exam pattern?+
AILET UG is a 2-hour offline test with 150 objective-type questions across 3 sections — English Language, Current Affairs & GK, and Logical Reasoning. Each question is 1 mark with 0.25 negative marking.
How many seats are there at NLU Delhi via AILET?+
NLU Delhi offers around 120 BA LLB seats (including reserved categories) plus a few seats for foreign nationals, making AILET one of India's most competitive law entrances.
Is AILET tougher than CLAT?+
Yes, generally — the cut-off is much higher because of fewer seats. Question difficulty in legal reasoning, logical reasoning and English is also typically a notch above CLAT.
Can I prepare for AILET along with CLAT?+
Absolutely. About 80–85% of the syllabus overlaps. At Law Prep Tutorial Bathinda we cover AILET-specific patterns, higher-difficulty practice and dedicated AILET mocks alongside CLAT classes.
